5 Questions to ask your DJ before you hire him/her

Updated: Jan 8

Are you researching the top DJ's in your area? Do you know the most pertinent questions you need to be asking them? If you don't, continue reading and check out our top 5 questions to ask your DJ before hiring him/her.

1. Do you have backup equipment?

This question is important because you want to make sure your DJ is prepared for anything. Most DJ's are but it never hurts to ask and have peace of mind.

2. Do you have an assistant that comes with you?

If your DJ has an assistant that comes with him/her you want to make sure you know because you want to count them in when giving your caterer your final numbers.

3. Do you emcee and DJ or do I need a separate emcee?

You want to make sure you know exactly what type of service your DJ will be providing. This should be communicated at your initial meeting, but if you want someone to emcee and DJ ensure that the company your are speaking with can provide these services.

4. What happens if you have an emergency on my wedding day?

The answer to this question will likely be stated in their contract, but if you want a walk through of how they would handle an emergency it is best to simply just ask. Most contracts will state that if they cannot provide the services promised on the day of the event they will find a suitable vendor to take over the contract and deliver services. But again, ask your DJ and read the contract carefully.

5. Do you have insurance?

This is a big one especially if your venue is requiring for all of your vendors to be insured. Most vendors are insured and should have no problem providing proof of insurance. We get asked this question a lot so don't feel embarrassed to ask.
