Shelby + Brandon | The West Events, Madeira Beach, FL

It was such an honor to be a part of Shelby and Brandon‘s big day! It was the most beautiful celebration. Shelby gave us the inside scoop on the details of her gorgeous wedding. Read below for everything she had to say regarding her big day!

How long have you and your spouse been together?

3 years!

How did you meet your spouse?

In 2013 I met my husband, Brandon, at a house party of mutual friends. Brandon and I had followed each other on Instagram and flirted by liking pictures back and forth, but when we met in person it was an instant connection and we spent the night away from our friends falling in love in someone’s kitchen lol. We talked all night and were inseparable from that moment forward. I joined the Air Force in 2015 and we broke up for 6 years, fast forward, and the second I was stationed in Florida we picked up right where we left off and within a month he moved to Northern Florida to be with me forever 🤍

How did they pop the question?

Brandon brought me to a pier we had once visited right after a big storm to watch the huge waves roll in. We were watching the sunset and he asked if I remembered the waves that day, I said yes and he said that his love for me was as strong as the ocean, he asked, and of course I said yes!

What was your wedding style? Ex. Romantic, Whimsical, Modern, Rustic, Bohemian,Elegant, etc.

Boho

When it came to planning your wedding, what was most important to you?

My vision, I wanted to ensure that everything I had planned in my head was executed perfectly from flowers to forks, I wanted it detailed!

What was the best part of your wedding day?

Marrying the love of my life, surrounded by friends and family, partying the night away!

How did hiring Stephanie Arias Event Planning help you plan your dream wedding?

Stephanie is just as detailed if not more than I am! She understood my vision, curated specific mood boards for ceremony, reception, cocktail hour, bridal party, and fine details. She coordinated with my vendors to ensure everyone was on the same page for design and timeline. I went into my wedding confident that everything was taken care of and I had absolutely nothing to worry about. We spent months prepping to make sure everything was perfect, and it truly was perfect and the best day of my life. A few things went wrong that I would have never known about if I didn’t ask to know. Stephanie took care of a catering issue, a linen issue, and made sure that I never knew it was an issue to begin with. She not only mitigated my stress but was an absolute JOY to work with, I would recommend her over and over again!

If you could provide a tip to another couple planning their wedding, what would it be?

I can almost guarantee you can’t do it on your own, not comfortably at least! The day goes by so fast as it is, if I had coordinated on my own I wouldn't have been able to be present at my own wedding! On the day of your wedding the last thing you want to worry about is if it’s going to be worth it? Will it be everything you dreamed of? A lot of people told me having a wedding was just a party for your friends and family, but in my experience I disagree. The day was totally centered around what my husband and I envisioned for the best day of our lives, I would have my wedding over and over again if I could, it was THAT good.

Where did you say YES to the dress, and what designer did you wear?

I said yes to my dress at Margaret Ellen Bridal in Santa Rosa Beach. Designer is Essence of Australia.

Where were the bridesmaids dresses purchased from?

David’s bridal

Groom/groomsmen attire - where were they purchased/rented from?

Mens wearhouse

Where did you order your stationary from?

Zazzle: invitations Etsy: table numbers/guestbook

When it came to your venue selection, why did you choose to get married there?

I wanted something primarily in doors because of the heat, close to the beach for pictures, a flexible space that didn’t scream “beach wedding” “farm wedding” etc etc, and something that offered separate spaces for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. I wanted to be married somewhere I would want to hangout on a weekend or for dinner. It was important it felt updated and fun, not like a wedding hall or ballroom. The West Events delivered all of the above AND a great staff!
