Tips? What Wedding Vendors to Tip on Your Wedding Day

I know what you're thinking. Tips?? Yes, tips. On your wedding day, as if you don't already have enough things to worry about, you should tip your vendors at the end of your service. Who do you tip you may be asking yourself?

Well, here we break down who and how much you should tip on your wedding day so there's no need to stress.

Hair and Makeup

Hair and makeup are one of the vendors where gratuity is expected. For hair and makeup, the tip should be between 15-20%. You can provide this tip yourself if you’re paying for all of your bridesmaid's services, or include a tip in the total that they each owe so they can make sure to have enough cash on hand.

Officiant

For the officiant, if they are a part of the church or the clergy you may not be able to tip the officiant directly but instead you would make a donation to the church. For non-clergy, you want to tip around $50-$100.

Photographer and Videographer

Your camera crew doesn't normally expect any tips but if the wedding photographer or videographer doesn't own the studio, consider tipping each person. You could tip $100 or more if you feel so inclined. If there is an assistant, tip the assistant $50 to $75.

Caterer

If you’re wondering about tipping wedding vendors, your caterer will likely be at the top of the list. Food will be a so important and will be a big part of your wedding! Usually a caterer's tip is included in their service fee, but if not, tip 15-20% percent of the food bill.

Waitstaff

The waitstaff is very important due to their work being the ones that get your guests food to them in a timely manner. Every server should receive at least $20.

Bartender

The bartenders keep the drinks flowing all night on your big day which is a big part of the party believe it or not. They do expect a gratuity of about 10 to 20% of the total bar tab.

DJ

Your wedding DJ keeps the night going with the music. When deciding how much you're tipping this wedding vendor, the rule of thumb is that he or she should receive 10-15% of the total bill.

Wedding Planner

Last but not least- wedding planners. As a wedding planner we do not expect a tip, but if you feel as if your wedding planner has gone above and beyond to make your wedding super amazing then you can give them 10-20% of their fee, or up to $500 cash.

At the end of the day tipping is never required, in some areas it is expected but it is a big way of just saying thank you for all the vendors that make your big day so magical! And if you can't or don't want to tip always remember that an amazing review goes a long way!
