Your Guide to a Perfect Processional

You might be asking yourself what the heck is a processional and why do I even need to think about one? Well, in most cases a processional is quite important but can get pretty confusing. This blog will be all about processionals and what you should do to make sure your processional is just the way that you want it.

What is a wedding processional anyway?

A wedding processional is basically the group of people of your choosing that walk down the aisle that signify that the wedding ceremony is officially starting. The processional usually includes the officiant, the wedding party, flower girls, ring bearers, the bride and groom, and their parents.

There are different traditions based on religion, culture, etc. so we are going to cover the basic processional for a nondenominational wedding that we know and love.

Like we mentioned earlier, who you have in your wedding processional is completely up to you. Your bridal party can be made up of friends, sisters, cousins, brothers even. You can also choose if you would like to have your parents in it or not.

The best processional order

  1. Parents or Grandparents

  2. The Groom

  3. The Groomsmen + The Bridesmaids (if you have any)

  4. The Best Man + Maid of Honor

  5. Ring Bearer (if you have one)

  6. Flower Girl (if you have one)

  7. The Father of the Bride + The Bride (if you would like to have your father walk you down the aisle)

FAQ's

Who escorts the mother of the bride down the aisle?

Your wedding is your big day, make it that way. The processional is just one part of it and you can create any order you’d like.
